Irish Bright-cut Engraved Star Teaspoon, Cork 1790 by PR

Teaspoon - Celtic Point with Bright-cut Star - Cork circa 1790 by Patrick Ryan - 14.2cm long; 16g - OB/2488
This is an excellent Irish provincial teaspoon by a rarely encountered maker. Patrick Ryan was working in Cork for just a few short years towards the end of the 18th century and this spoon is punched with two clear examples of his "PR" mark struck either side of the "STERLING" stamp.
The spoon is in the fabulous Celtic Point with Bright-cut Star and is engraved with original ownership initials to the cartouche. The spoon has a good, unworn bowl and super-crisp decoration throughout. A fine example.
