The Service

We are pleased to be offering a scarce Regency period silver 12 place settings canteen in Kings Hour Glass Pattern. The service provides for five pieces per 12 place settings with an option for 20th century knives.

All the spoons and forks were hand-wrought in the traditional manner in two London workshops during the last decade of King George III. The forks and dessert spoons were made between 1814 & 1817 by Josiah & George Piercy, whereas the table and tea spoons were made by Eley, Fearn & Chawner in 1809. Each piece bears the same engraved crest of a stag to the front terminal.

Hourglass Pattern

Hourglass pattern is a variation of the well known King’s Pattern with an hour glass motif on the front stems instead of the honeysuckle motif in the standard pattern. It was influenced on an 18th century French design and was especially popular during the Regency period.

This 60-piece service consists of the following:

12 Table/soup Spoons

12 Dessert  Forks

Optional Extras

We have a good range of King’s Hourglass Pattern serving items in stock, including several pieces that were part of the original set with the same stag crest.

We will be happy to quote for any additional pieces that may be required to suit your needs.

Condition

Excellent original condition. The double struck decoration remains crisp throughout the majority of these pieces. There is some very minor wear to the motif on a few items, but in the overall context of this fine canteen it is relatively inconsequential.

Presentation

This canteen is offered loose. We can supply anti-tarnish cutlery rolls on request. These navy blue rolls have individual pockets to hold 12 items per roll and are available for £15 each.

As with all the canteens available from our web-site, we are happy to send a sample place setting for approval, on receipt of a fully refundable surety payment, prior to purchasing this canteen.
