Hester Bateman Silver Cream Jug, 1778

Cream Jug - Baluster with Bead Punched Rim - London 1778 by Hester Bateman - 11.8cm high; 65g - KM/6346
This is a lovely example of a Georgian silver cream jug made by "The Queen of English Silversmiths", Hester Bateman.
Standing on a round pedestal foot, this baluster form pitcher has the bead punched rim that was popular in the late 1770's. It is engraved with an original "J" in script to the front. The London hallmarks are clear to see, although the maker's mark is slightly mis-struck and only part of the "H" is visible. This cream jug is in excellent condition with neither damage nor repair.
