Sugar Tongs - Bright-cut Engraved - London circa 1788 by Hester Bateman - 13cm long; 29g - YE/6372a

Sorry, this item is out of stock.

This is a lovely pair of Hester Bateman silver sugar tongs with her trademark acorn bowls to the end of each arm.

The bright-cut engraving is in the usual tasteful design one would expect from the "Queen of English Silversmiths". London-made sugar tongs of this period were not stamped with a date letter, however the presence of an intaglio duty mark places them between 1786 and 1790 when Hester Bateman retired.

These George III period sugar tongs are in excellent condition with an original script engraved monogram to the outside of the bow.
