"Hand" Silver Caddy Spoon, 1805 Josiah Snatt
£295.00
Caddy Spoon - Right Hand - London 1805 by Josiah Snatt - 7cm long - WP/9376
The "Hand" is one of the holy trinity of most sought after silver caddy spoons - together with the eagle's wing and jockey cap.
This example was made by Josiah Snatt, the most important maker of the type and dates from 1805 which was the year in which most "hands" were made. The hand is beautifully modelled with each finger acting as a flute for the bowl and engraved to the underside with a nail. The plain cuff is engraved with the monogram of the original owner and the spoon remains in excellent condition throughout.
