Emes & Barnard Wine Funnel, 1827

Sold
Wine Funnel - Gadroon Mounts - London 1827 by Emes & Barnard - 14cm high; 8cm diameter; 163g - BX/8189
This fine quality Georgian silver wine funnel benefits from being excellent condition with its original swan-neck funnel still intact. The funnel comprises three sections: a top strainer section, a ring that can hold a muslin filter and a spout.
The strainer is expertly drilled and has a gadroon mount with cast shell hanging hook to the side. The ring fits neatly over the rim and will hold a filter in place. The elegant spout has three bars around the top to allow air to escape when placed in a decanter and also the bend at the end will prevent the wine from bruising (it is directed towards the side of the decanter rather allowing a long drop).
Made by Emes & Barnard, a premier silversmithing partnership of the period, this top quality funnel bears no personalised engravings, has good hallmarks and is in fine condition throughout.
