Sorry, this item is out of stock.

This is a truly beautiful Georgian silver teapot with several unusual features. Firstly, it comes complete with its original oval, silver teapot stand that stands on four claw and ball feet. The flush hinge of the teapot is superbly made and is most unusual as it is hidden amongst the engraving and the whole of the top section lifts up when opened via the seated, figural finial. The parcel gilt (gold-wash) decoration is particularly unusual and is a most beautiful addition and attention to detail: it is constrained to certain elements within the decoration such as the flowers and cartouche surrounds. One cartouche is engraved with flowers whilst the other has engraved initials - the stand is similarly gilt and bears matching initials.

This teapot and stand were made by top London makers of the period and the quality of this teapot is equal to their high reputation. The cartouche on the teapot bearing the initials is a little soft (possibly an indication of it having been re-engraved), but this minor defect does not detract from the overall beauty and quality of the piece.
