A fine quality silver sugar caster with a very hefty weight. This caster has a superb pierced cover which is marked twice with the "SW" makers mark also found with the full set of hallmarks under the foot. This baluster shaped caster has a let-in base typical of duty dodger practises during this period to avoid excessive taxes and fees. There is an original engraved crest within a laurel wreath to the body. This sugar caster is in excellent condition and is a fine example of the type.
