Caddy Spoon - 'Hand' - London 1805 by Josiah Snatt - 7cm long - RD/2948

This is a fabulous example of one of the trinity of silver caddy spoon "must haves". Along with the Eagle's Wing and Jockey Cap, the Hand remains one of the most desirable of all caddy spoon forms and being made by Josiah Snatt (the main maker of this type) adds prestige to this spoon.

This is a right hand exampled with finely modelled fingers, engraved nails and an attractively engraved cuff handle with no personalised engravings. 1805, the year of the Battle of Traflagar, was the first year the Hand caddy spoon was introduced and so this example is as early as you will find.

Due to their delicate nature, this type of novelty caddy spoon is prone to damage, but fortunately this example is in superb condition throughout with a good set of London hallmarks.
