Teaspoon - "Galleon" Picture-back - London circa 1765 by Philip Roker - 11.6cm long; 10g - QU/8669
This is a good example of a highly sought after Hanoverian pattern picture back teaspoon. The detail on this galleon back teaspoon is a little worn and the bowl tip a touch sharp, but overall it is a good example of its type. It bears original "ML" ownership initials to the reverse terminal. the maker's mark is partly mis-struck but is likely to be "P.R" for the specialist spoonmaker Philip Roker.
This particular picture back depicting a three-masted galleon in full sail is likely to celebrate a British naval victory.
