Cream Pail - Vase-shaped with Swing handle - London 1779 by Burrage Davenport - 14.5cm high (with handle up); 10cm high to rim; 8.1cm diameter rim; 122g weight of silver - ES/7182

Sorry, this item is out of stock.

This is a very pretty silver cream pail or basket complete with original blue glass liner. The basket takes a NeoClassical vase-shaped form on a pedestal foot and with a hinged swinging handle. The handle, top and foot rims are all mounted with a beaded wire that was especially popular in the years around 1780. The trellis work and swag decorated piercing shows off the underlying blue glass to best effect.

This lovely looking cream pail is in fabulous original condition and within the trellis work is a discreet round cartouche that is engraved with a griffin crest.
