Sorry, this item is out of stock.

This is a very early example of a wine label in a plain escutcheon form. This claret label is marked twice to the reverse side with the pre-1739 lion passant and a fine example of the "IH" crowned mark which must be the short-lived maker's mark of John Harvey. This mark was entered in February 1738 only to be replaced in 1739 in accordance with the law requiring all silversmiths to enter a new mark. This later mark was "IH" crowned in script. The label is in excellent condition.
