Sorry, this item is out of stock.

This is a rare object! Made in 1780 by Henry Greenway, this fine quality, Georgian silver serving dish has a double-skinned base to allow a reservoir of hot water within the base, to maintain the temperature of the food being served. The black wooden handle has a screw-thread so that it can be removed for easy filling with hot water.

This silver chafing dish has an attractive bead border to the base and a beautifully modelled bud finial to the hinged cover. It is in fine condition with no dings, dents, nor damage and a lovely original patina, plus the bonus of clear hallmarks to both the cover and base.
