Wine Coaster - Sheffield 1815 by Mark Furniss & Co. - 15.5cm diameter; 5.4cm high; 245g gross weight - DN/5470a

This is a good quality Regency period antique silver wine coaster with a full set of Sheffield hallmarks.

Made by Mark Furniss & Company, this decanter or bottle coaster has a wooden insert and silver gallery. The wood is cut with concentric circles to prevent vacuums forming with the base of the bottle/decanter and is centred by a blank, circular silver boss. The underside is lined with green baize to protect polished surfaces from scratching.

The silver gallery has a bellied form and is decorated with an attractive mount to the top. The hallmarks are located on the lower rim and remain clear and legible. This good-looking Georgian silver coaster remains in excellent condition.
