Caddy Spoon - Bright-cut - Exeter circa 1800 by Francis Parsons & Stephen Crees - 6.5cm long; 10g - PK/6242

This is an attractive Exeter silver caddy spoon made by the rarely encountered parnership of Parsons & Crees.

The handle is prettily engraved and the bowl is decorated with the trademark sunburst often seen on caddy spoons of this period made in Exeter. There are no personalised engravings and the spoon presents in fine condition.

The hallmarks are typical of smallware of this period and lack a date letter and town mark. However the distinctive makers mark FP/SC, the trademark sunburst to bowl and the straight line under the lion passant (not shield-shaped) point to Exeter. Additionally,  the style of the spoon and the decade-long working period of the makers (1797-1807) help to accurately date the piece.
