Elizabeth Tookey Silver Marrow Scoop, 1772

Marrow Scoop - Double-ended - London 1772 by Elizabeth Tookey - 22.2cm long; 44g - PL/4378
This George III period silver marrow scoop was made by the lady silversmith Elizabeth Tookey. It has two differently sized scoops (for teasing out the tasty marrowfat) either end of a central shank that bears the London hallmarks. The larger scoop also bears an original engraved initial “C” on its heel.
This good quality marrow scoop is in fine condition and includes a great example of the “ET” maker’s mark within a widow’s lozenge. Elizabeth Tookey was the widow of the specialist spoonmaker James Tookey taking over the running of his business in the early 1770’s.
