Inkstand - Gadroon border & 4 claw feet - London 1769 by Henry Bailey - 25cm x 16.3cm; 665g - YK/3309
This is a beautiful Georgian period silver standish or inkstand complete with its original three glass ink wells. The standish has two pen troughs, a gadroon border and stands on 4 claw feet. The glass inkwells are held within pierced frames and are fitted with removable silver tops - the one with the decoratively pierced top would originally have been used as a sander (to help dry the wet ink).
This mid-18th century inkstand is in excellent condition with a clear set of hallmarks to the underside. There is no damage nor repairs and each component is original to the set - a rare find!
