This is a superb quality fiddle pattern silver table spoon made in Inverness, Scotland. A sign of the rich heritage of this piece is the engraved crest featuring an otter and the motto "Debonnaire" above it in Scottish style. This is the crest and motto of the Scottish branch of the Bethune (or Beaton) family.

This Scottish provincial silver table spoon bears the "INS" and cornucopia marks for Inverness and the "J&N" maker's mark for the partnership of Jamieson & Naughten. It is in fine condition throughout with neither damage nor repair - just look at the thick bowl tip which shows little sign of wear.
