Colonial Pap Boat, 1840

Sold
Pap Boat - Covered Spout & Gilt Interior - Madras circa 1840 by George Gordon & Co. - 4cm high; 10cm x 5.5cm; 83g - MT/7193</p>
This is a very rare pap boat both in form and origin. Made in India during the early Victorian period, this pap boat bears the GG&Co mark for George Gordon & Company of Madras. It is a very unusual form by being a part-covered vessel with a pouring spout and richly gilt interior. An excellent example of a child's pap boat that remains in fine condition.
Pap boats were infant feeding vessels.
