Sorry, this item is out of stock.

This rattail silver table spoon is a very rare example with Britannia Standard marks for the Chester Assay office.

Dating from the first year of King George I's reign, this table spoon is in excellent antique condition with an original engraved betrothal triangle to the reverse terminal, where "Y" was the first letter of the newlyweds' surname and both their first names began with an "I" (old style way of writing a "J").

The Chester hallmarks read from top to bottom: Date letter "O" for 1714, Chester city arms, lion's head erased, Britannia (for 95.8% purity) and "Ro" maker's mark for Thomas Robinson.
