Chester Caddy Spoon, 1839

Sold
Caddy Spoon - Fiddle Pattern - Chester 1839 by John Sutter (Liverpool) - 8.7cm long; 13g - RA/7956</p>
Fully marked silver caddy spoons from the first half of the 19th century bearing the City Arms mark for the Chester Assay Office are scarce. With its fiddle shaped handle and beautiful shell-shaped, fluted bowl, this caddy spoon is a particularly pleasing example and bears original engraved initials to the front terminal. The spoon was made by the Liverpool based silversmith John Sutter and is stamped with a good set of Chester hallmarks.
