Rare Chester Beaker, 1771

Sold
Beaker - Coopered Barrel - Chester 1771 by Richard Richardson - 8.7cm high; 7.5cm diameter rim; 161g - OE/7294
Chester made silver from the 18th century is very scarce and hollowware even more so! This handsome silver beaker is in the form of a coopered barrel and has a rich gilding to the interior. It has a lovely ergonomic feel and satisfying weight when clasped in the hand and is in excellent condition with the bonus of no personalised engravings.
The underside of this lovely beaker is clearly stamped with a full set of Chester hallmarks, including the city arms town mark and the "RR" maker's mark of the silversmith, Richard Richardson. A fabulous piece of rare northern silver.
