Cellini Ewer, 1882

Inspired by the 16th Century designs of the Italian Benvenuto Cellini (generally considered the most important silversmith of all time), this wine pitcher is probably the most popular of all Victorian ewer designs. The chased decoration just oozes high quality and depicts Bacchus masks and goats. The hinged cover and insulators to the handle suggest that the jug can be used for both hot and cold drinks. Further benefits include the lack of any personalised engravings and also the beautiful caryatid figural handle. A full set of hallmarks can be found to the underside of the pouring spout.
