Cast arm Georgian Sugar Tongs, 1770

These are a rare form of cast arm Georgian sugar tongs - the majority of this form of tongs are decorated with engraving, apart from a simple line border around the bow and script initials, this pair are devoid of any other adornment. The openwork arms are beautifully crafted and terminate in shell grips. These tongs are in excellent condition with neither damage nor repair and are appropriately marked with a clear lion passant and maker's mark.
