Caddy Spoon, Sheffield 1784

This is an exquisite silver tea caddy spoon with a stylishly engraved tapering handle and beautifully formed fluted bowl. It really is a gem of a spoon and an early fully hallmarked example at that. The Sheffield hallmarks include the date letter for 1784 that can be accurately date the spoon's manufacture to between May and November 1784, as the additional duty mark was introduced on Dec. 1st of that year. This lovely spoon remains in fine condition.
