Sorry, this item is out of stock.

This is a very competitively priced, yet fine example of a Queen Anne period silver trefid spoon.

The spoon has an excellent set of hallmarks denoting the purer Britannia standard silver (95.8% pure compared to 92.5% Sterling standard). It was made by the specialist spoonmaker John Cory who was freed by patrimony after working with his Warminster born father Thomas Cory.

The reverse terminal of this spoon is engraved with original dot-pricked "WH" initials, together with some mid-18th century "FS" initials and 19th century "JJ" initials to the front. This assemblage of ownership initials adds to the character and history of the spoon

This trefid spoon is in generally fine condition with a good antique patina, although the rattail to the reverse side has some wear from table contact.
