Salt Spoons (4) - Stag Hunt Pattern - London 1826 by Charles Eley - 11cm long; 130g combined weight - EJ/7271a

Sorry, this item is out of stock.

These are a lovely set of four George IV period silver-gilt salt spoons in one of the most sought after English flatware patterns - Stag Hunt.

Made by the premier silversmith Charles Eley, these top quality silver salt spoons have a good hefty weight and their bowls are gilt to protect the silver from the corrosive effects of salt.

The handles depict a scene of a stag being hunted by a pack of hounds. The reverse side is decorated with hunting trophies and a mask of a Classical goddess and the cartouches are engraved with an original crest. The decoration is in excellent crisp condition and these truly are a top drawer set of spoons.

Stag Hunt pattern was designed by Thomas Stothard and made by Paul Storr for the Royal goldsmiths Rundell, Bridge & Rundell during the Regency period.
