White Wine Label, 1780

This is a very elegant silver White Wine label with a bead border around the rectangular shaped ticket. The label is convex to better sit against a bottle or carafe and hangs from its original belcher chain. It is marked once with "TH" for the specialist maker Thomas Hyde. The working dates of the maker and the bead border date the label to the 1780's: the absence of the duty mark (introduced in 1784) will mean that the label was made in the early years of this decade. Excellent condition.
