Vinaigrette - 'Watch Case' - London 1811 - 34mm diameter; 16g - Ref. No.: CQ/2494
A great example of a Georgian novelty vinaigrette in the style of a pocket fob watch in a hunter case. Both sides of the exterior are decorated with concentric circles and the pendant loop is at 12 o'clock. The interior reveals a beautiful gilt grille that on first appearances looks like a complex watch movement. The whole of the interior is gilt and the hallmarks can be found within the inner base - the makers mark is mis-struck and is either "WB", "WE" or "WF". This is an early example of its type and is unusual in being London made.
