Claret Jug - London 1891 by Edgar Finley & Hugh Taylor (Horace Woodward & Co.) - 29.8cm high; 14cm max. diameter - PY/8603

Sorry, this item is out of stock.

This is a very beautiful claret jug of the highest quality with silver gilt mounts, handle and cover. The silver-gilt mounts of this attractive wine pitcher are decorated with chased floral swags and has an elegant, ribbed "S"-shaped handle. A sign of the high quality is the band around the middle which gives extra strength to the handle and unlike lesser examples, the band is also decorated. The same goes for the silver-gilt base, which again goes beyond the glass foot of other pieces as it prevents any chips occurring when the jug is knocked or placed down too heavily. The clear glass has a most attractive cutting and is in fine condition. The jug is fully hallmarked to the top mount and also to the underside of the base. Excellent condition throughout with no damage to glass or silver.
