A fantastic quality silver wine jug with the handle in the form of a superb cast thirsty dragon peering in to the top of the ewer. The interior of the ewer is gilt and the exterior is lavishly decorated with engraved foliage. This claret jug was given to the 3rd Battalion of the Durham Light Infantry in 1885 by a former Captain. The inscription reads "Presented by Captain & Honorary Major H. Cheesbyne Molyneux to his brother officers on leaving the regiment 6th March 1885". The neck also bears the bugle insignia of the DLI.
