Tea Infuser Spoon - Patent "Teaette" - London 1895 by George Gray - 14.2cm long; 22g - YV/3775

Sorry, this item is out of stock.

A lovely example of a silver tea infuser in the patent "TEAETTE" design. The Teaette was made exclusively by George Gray in the late Victorian and early 20th century: this piece being an early example. The hinged bowl holds the tea and is secured by a knurled nut on the shank. It is in excellent polished condition.

The patent information is shown along the stem with the addition of "Halstaff & Hannaford 228 Regent St W." on the back of the stem. Halstaff & Hannaford were major manufacturers of top quality wooden boxes and presumably this Teaette was part of a tea caddy set. They were in business from 1828 to 1908.
