Tazza Description: Salver with trumpet foot Hallmark: Cork c.1740 by George Hodder Dimensions: 150mm diameter; 50mm high; 185 grams - CC/6944
An extremely rare Irish provincial footed salver by George Hodder. This is a particularly rare Irish piece of hollowware and is early in date.
It bears a contemporary to manufacture crest to the top and a corresponding betrothal triangle to underside “W” over “M+M”. It is stamped with both the STERLING and GH marks. The condition is excellent with slight impression of the foot showing on the top.
See fig. 151 page 168 of “Cork Silver & Gold: Four Centuries of Craftsmanship" by John R Bowen and Conor O'Brien for a similar example by the same maker.
