Silver Fiddle, Thread & Shell Caddy Spoon, 1844
£148.00
Caddy Spoon - Fiddle, Thread & Shell Pattern - London 1844 by George Adams - 11cm long; 28g - KD/5873
This is a fine quality antique silver caddy spoon in fiddle, thread & shell pattern made by the most important flatware makers of the 19th century - Chawner & Company.
Lead by George Adams during the Victorian period, Chawners had been formed in 1815 by William Chawner and went on to become the most prolific and dominant makers of high quality silver cutlery in the UK. Fiddle, Thread & Shell was one of their most popular patterns and this caddy spoon is a great example with good, crisp decoration, a nice chunky weight and no personal engravings.
