Caddy Spoon - Bright-cut Handle with Scallop-shaped Bowl - London 1788 by Hester Bateman - 7cm long - GN/5394

This is a superb example of the quintessential Hester Bateman antique silver caddy spoon with a scallop-shaped bowl.

This form of spoon was designed by Hester Bateman and became her most popular caddy spoon that was continued to be made by later members of her family in to the 19th century. This particular example has a very elegant bright-cut and zig-zag border with no personalised engravings. It has a good set of London hallmarks and remains in fine, crisp condition.
