Scottish Hanoverian Table Spoon, Aberdeen c.1780
Table Spoon - Hanoverian - Aberdeen circa 1780 by James Smith - 21.5cm long; 59g - VZ/2385a
This is a good quality early example of a Scottish provincial silver table spoon in the predominant pattern of the 18th century - Hanoverian.
The spoon has a nice feel in the hand with a deeply struck set of marks including the "ABD" mark for Aberdeen and the "IS" mark of the maker. A good quality spoon in fine condition with a nice thick bowl tip and antique patina.
