Sorry, this item is out of stock.

This is an exceptional Russian silver spoon with a superb combination of cloisonné and Plique-à-jour enamel. This good sized spoon was made by the important Moscow silversmith Pavel Akimovich Ovchinnikov, in the early years of the 20th century. This firm was founded in 1853 and were strong rivals to Karl Faberge. The bowl is quite stunning and the full effect of the Plique-à-jour enamel can be seen when held up the light to see the translucent stain glass window effect. Plique-à-jour is French for "letting in daylight". The end of the handle has a backdrop of blue and white enamel set with fields of different bright colours. A truly superb spoon in excellent condition!
