Caddy Spoon - Lion-paw & shell - London 1810 by Elizabeth Morley - 73mm long; 20g weight - Ref. No.: ES/9230

Sorry, this item is out of stock.

This form of caddy spoon is new to us and we have not found any other record of the type - it is possibly unique. The spoon was made by the most imaginative of London based Georgian period silversmiths and creator of the harebell spoon - Elizabeth Morley. It was possibly commissioned by somebody with a lion paw family crest.

The handle of this spoon is in the form of a hollowed out lion's paw which is connected to a beautifully modelled cockle shell bowl. The scoop side of this spoon is gilt. The spoon is in fine condition with clear small-ware hallmarks for the period. A superb specimen!
