Puzzle-opening Vesta Case, 1878

This silver box-shaped vesta case is a great conundrum that would keep your friends amused. This vesta case is designed with a secret way of opening. The round plate upon which the crest is engraved can be pushed towards the hinge and this releases a sprung-catch. The eagle crest has a motto beneath. The exterior of the box is engine turned throughout, except for the one side with the striker. This is an early vesta case made by a top London partnership and with a good weight of 3 oz.it has a really solid feel in the hand. It is in excellent condition throughout.
