Dessert Spoon - Old English pattern - London 1790 by Peter & Jonathan Bateman - 17.2cm long; 30g - DU/4074a

Sorry, this item is out of stock.

This spoon display an excellent set of hallmarks which include the much sought after PB/IB maker's mark for Peter and Jonathan Bateman. Peter and his brother Jonathan were sons of the famous Hester Bateman. Their partnership was short lived due to the premature death of Jonathan from cancer. All pieces with their makers mark bear the date letter "p" for 1790/1 as they worked for only 6 months during this date letter year.

This dessert spoon is in particularly fine original condition with a thick bowl tip and bears an engraved crest of a sheep carrying a penant to the terminal.
