Vesta Case - 'Pat-a-Cake' - Birmingham 1902 by H.J. Cooper - 50mm x 45mm; 36g - Ref. No.: SV/9484
A rare silver vesta case, presumably made especially for a baker or related trade. The front of this silver match safe is decorated with the words "PAT A CAKE" which are the first lines of the well known nursery rhyme and patterned edges as would be found on a loaf of bread. This Edwardian vesta case is in excellent condition.
The first verse runs: "Pat-a-cake, pat-a-cake, baker's man. Bake me a cake as fast as you can, Roll it, Pat it and mark it with B, Put it in the oven for baby and me."
