Pastern Hoof Caddy Spoon, 1806

Caddy Spoon - Pastern Hoof - Birmingham 1806 by Cocks & Bettridge - 6.6cm long - SC/2115
The pastern hoof, so called because of its similarities in shape to the lower leg of a horse (between fetlock and hoof), was a trademark caddy spoon design for the Birmingham makers Cocks & Bettridge. The attractively shaped bowl has a delicate pierced gallery around the outer rim and cleverly executed engraving to fully show-off the design. The handle is prettily engraved and bears an original script monogram. This Georgian silver caddy spoon is in fine condition.
