Pair of Georgian Shoe Buckles, 1785

Sold
Shoe Buckles (pair) - London circa 1785 by Stephen Adams I - 7.5cm x 5.5cm; 106g - EP/1828
This fabulous pair of Georgian silver shoe buckles are not only very attractive in their appearance, but bear appropriate silver marks for the period that give a clear date of manufacture: the incuse duty mark that is clearly displayed was only used between December 1784 and May 1786. The maker's mark is struck twice to each buckle. The steel chapes are in good order and the pair is in excellent condition throughout.
