Serving Tongs - Fiddle pattern - London 1800 by John Bourne - 23.8cm long; 150g - AM/9560
These are a fine quality pair of Georgian silver serving tongs. Also known as chop servers, these tongs could be used for all manner of serving purposes. They have two sprung arms with one having a corrugated appearance with retaining lip. The restraining bar across the middle is an additional attention to details missing on inferior tongs and is typical of the output of John Bourne a specialist in this type of item. A sign of their rich provenance is the crowned crest engraved to the outside of the bow. These serving tongs are in excellent original condition.
