Cream Jug - Novelty 'Coin' - London 1883 by Louis Dee - 9.8cm high x 9cm wide; 186g - NF/6958
This is a quirky and very rare silver cream jug decorated with George III period silver coins.
Possibly unique, as we have never seen one before, this cream jug was made by the innovative London silversmith Louis Dee and is engraved to the underside with the London retailer Clark of Bond Street. The jug features an assortment of George III period silver 3d, 4d and shilling coins dating from 1766 to 1816 that form the cleverly made combined strapwork handle and feet. A florin is placed to the centre of both sides of the circular body and the interior is gilt.
This interesting and idiosyncratic milk jug is in excellent condition with some wear to the detail of the florins.
