Caddy Spoon - Cuff handle with feather edge border - New York circa 1805 by Robert Wilson - 65mm long; 16g - Ref. No.: EP/2019

Sorry, this item is out of stock.

This is a very rare example of an early US caddy spoon. Dating from the presidency of Thomas Jefferson, this caddy spoon has similarities to those made in England in the late 18th century with the exception that that the makers mark is to the top of the handle. This is a lovely spoon in excellent original condition.

The spoon bears a single "RW" mark for Robert Wilson who was working in New York between 1805 and 1816. He then moved to Philadelphia working on his own until 1825 and then as the partnership of R&W Wilson until 1846.
