This is a rare Edwardian novelty silver child's mug with a chased scene from the nursery rhyme "Old Mother Hubbard". The chasing shows an old lady opening an empty cupboard with an expectant dog waiting nearby. The rest of the scene shows a view of her cottage. This is a really charming Christening cup with a fun scene. The mug is in excellent original condition and benefits from no personalised engravings. It has a good hefty weight and was made by a premier London silversmith.

The first verse of the rhyme is:-

Old Mother Hubbard
Went to the cupboard
To get her poor dog a bone;
But when she came there
The cupboard was bare,
And so the poor dog had none
