Caddy Spoon - Engraved, Wavy-edge Handle & Fluted Bowl - Birmingham 1810 by Matthew Linwood - 6.2cm long - AT/2913
Matthew Linwood is one of the most highly respected names in the production of silver tea caddy spoons from the early 19th century and this example is a very pretty piece from his workshop.
The wavy edge to the short handle is a trademark feature of Linwood caddy spoons and in this instance the handle is attractively engraved with leafy tendrils issuing from a shield-shaped cartouche that remains vacant. This Georgian spoon has a fluted bowl, clear Birmingham hallmarks and is in fine condition.
