Sorry, this item is out of stock.

A very rare example from the pictorial range of Victorian silver thimbles. The distinctive three spires of Lichfield Cathedral can be clearly seen on this thimble and it is flanked to either side by trees. The thimble is clearly stamped with the makers mark of George Unite and is in fine original condition.

Pictorial thimbles were sold as souvenirs to wealthy tourists of the mid-19th century following the introduction of nation wide train travel giving people increased mobility around the country. They depict raise scenes of popular architectural scenes and were made at the same time as the famous castle top snuff boxes, card cases and vinaigrettes.
