A very rare jockey cap caddy spoon by Joseph Willmore. The vast majority of jockey cap spoon were made by Joseph Taylor and Samuel Pemberton in the last few years of the 18th century. This spoon is a very rare example by Joseph Willmore (a prolific maker of other caddy spoons) and was made during the reign of King William IV. The spoon has typical engraved decoration around the hat and across the peak. It is in fine condition with a good set of hallmarks.
PROVENANCE: This spoon was part of the John Norie collection and is described and illustrated in his book "Caddy Spoons: An Illustrated Guide" as plate 95g and discussed on page 87.
